The logistics of nearly 15 years of travel throughout the Pacific and in producing the KANUculture publications, culminating in the Paddlers Guide to Outrigger Canoeing and the Art and Skill of Steering, has been a massive undertaking.

Photography: Sincere thanks to Harvie Allison for supplying some truly amazing photography. His support of Kanu Culture over the years has been overwhelming. My thanks also to Joss of Hawaii, who has been ‘our man in Hawaii’ for many years and through his imagery has helped elevate the profile of the sport and also to California’s Daphne Hougard.

Travel and Accommodation: Thanks also to Tahiti Tourisme to whom I owe a huge debt of gratitude for their amazing support of my work and to Air Tahiti Nui. Also to the Marianas Visitors Authority for my trips to Saipan and Guam and to the Palau Visitors Authority. Thanks also to Colin Philp of Wai Tui in Fiji for organising many trips to Fiji and to the Fiji Visitors Bureau and to Air Pacific. Thanks also to Susan Boyd of Infront Communications and to the Hamilton Island Resort and the Hamilton Island Cup, who have provided unlimited support over since 1995.

Inspiration: Thanks to Todd Bradley for all of his support during the mid to late 90s and to Chris Maynard with whom I have run many clinics and who provided much appreciated support when working on the Steering book.

Finally my thanks to my daughter Alana, for putting up with me, Rose for her early support of my vision and to 'Fred', for her unwaivering support and belief in me and my work and for her amazing talent for creating organisation out of chaos. Ultimately, my list of thanks would fill another book and for fear of omitting someone over the course of these years, I decline to attempt it. But to all those who have helped and supported me and Kanu Culture over the years, my deepest thanks, there is a part of you in this book.
