    Tricky conditions for the penultimate summer series race in Boscombe, supported by major sponsors Sorted Surfshop, greeted paddlers from as far away as Jersey. Ryan James was victorious in a closely fought battle with John Hibbard, Ryan strong in the upwind legs, Hibbard making up ground in the downwind legs over the 3 laps with a short run up the beach between laps. Marie Buchanan put in a strong performance in beating many of the male competitors in a great display of skill and determination.

    London's most prodigious SUP Centre, Blue Chip, arrived along with 15 participants for some tips on technique and a 5 mile paddle along the eastern shoreline of Hayling guided by Steve and Mandy West.

    A total of 13 SUP paddlers attended the ASI SUP UK Instructors course held at the National Training Centre, Hayling Island Sailing Club. Those in attendance represented some of the UK's best racers, sponsored riders and retailers, with one participant making the trip all the way from Malta. A total of 3 full, enjoyable days culminated in a downwind paddle in 20 knots plus breeze to clear the heads and put into practice some of what had been learned.

    A great turn-out by a group of very enthusiastic stand up paddle boarders from around Ireland, who participated in our 3 day ASI Level 1 (Flat Water), Level 2 (Exposed Waters) and Level 3 (Beginner Surf) courses. Usually a 4 day course, the Surf assessment will be completed via correspondence via submission of video footage. A great synergy and exchange of knowledge was shared between us in this every evolving sport. Our thanks to Paul Byrne of www.irishsup.com for taking care of logistics. We used the classrooms and grounds of one of Ireland's most famous private schools located in Dalkey and Coal Harbour for out on-water session. Photos by Mandy.
